Loss of an Eye in Fort Myers

Surgical removal of the eye may be necessary following:

  • severe trauma
  • to control pain in a blind eye
  • to alleviate a severe infection inside an eye
  • for cosmetic improvement of a disfigured eye.

Enucleation: the surgical removal of the entire eye.

Evisceration: the surgical removal of the contents in an eye.

If either of these procedures needs to be performed, an artificial eye can be made by an ocularist.
